FSDP Cockpit – Solution for Efficient Data Management of SAP FSDP
FSDP Cockpit – Solution for Efficient Data Management of SAP FSDP
At the end of 2017, SAP introduced the Financial Services Data Platform (FSDP), the successor to SAP Bank Analyzer. With the FSDP, SAP intends to provide a uniform data budget for the financial industry. The solution offers both bank- and insurance-specific business and technical data models.
The Financial Services Data Platform offers the business departments the possibility to consolidate all data and to access it centrally. However, the first challenge is that all required data from a large number of core banking systems using a wide range of technologies must be technically consistent and completely entirely accessible on the data platform. In doing so, it is necessary to take into account, among other things, the completeness and timeliness of the data, as well as the dependencies between the data of different business objects (for example, a loan requires a suitable business partner).
Experience shows that powerful data management functions are required to check the completeness and consistency of the data and to enable audit-proof error processing and data correction. These correction options are particularly important for critical control and reporting disciplines in order to meet the given internal and external reporting requirements and reporting deadlines.
With our FSDP Cockpit, we offer a solution with which FSDP data can be evaluated, displayed, and, if necessary, corrected and enriched manually or rule-based on the business object level. The Cockpit complements the standard SAP FSDP functionality with convenient data management and DQ functions that can be operated by business users.
The functions of the cockpit are bundled in three modules, which the user can access via a modern web UI. Users can conveniently design their cockpit workspace by hiding and showing as well as an individual arrangement of the required apps.
Application Cockpit
The Application Cockpit module enables the manual display, modification, and re-entry of data at an individual record level. FSDP data can be called up and edited using various business views – e.g. based on a classic business object view oriented on the business data model of the Financial Services Data Model, a business domain view, e.g. for risk management, accounting, reporting, etc., or an individual user and role view.
Data changes in the Application Cockpit are verified by a dual control principle: the changing business user triggers a release process. A second business user approves the changes. Only then is the change written to the database. All changes are logged in a revision-proof manner via log tables, and the complete history can be displayed clearly for all business objects.
Validation Framework
The Validation Framework module enables the convenient definition of business rules for completeness and consistency checks as well as for rule-based correction and enrichment of data. The corresponding Business Content is delivered for standard checks such as required field checks, format checks, or consistency checks between the various business objects (e.g. comparison of whether suitable business partner information is available for loan transactions or contract data suitable for business operations).
An important function of the Validation Framework is the comprehensive error cockpit, which enables central processing of incorrect data. In a user-friendly cockpit, data records that cannot be loaded into the FSDP due to missing or incorrect content, or that cannot be processed by the consumers based on the FSDP, are provided for post-processing. Depending on the error category, object type, or other criteria, the targeted assignment is made to appropriate processors, who can perform the error correction with appropriate logging and the usual optional four-eye approval procedure. Depending on the application, the error correction can be carried out by manual correction or, in the case of larger data volumes, by correction rules.
Service Cockpit
The Service Cockpit module contains a wide range of functions that facilitate data management and processing in connection with SAP FSDP. For example, the administration of the users authorized to maintain data or release changes, the definition of field properties, and the maintenance of check and value tables are carried out here.
A further function of the Service Cockpit is a comprehensive parameterization and process control for the processing runs of the applications and computing cores that consume FSDP data.
With the FSDP Cockpit, an innovative data management solution is available, which enables a smooth introduction and an efficient, highly automated operation.
